- Analysis has proven that typical motor dealers will spend
around 70% of their land line calls costs on dialling mobile phones,
whilst this accounts for only 30% of the call duration.
This anomaly arises because of the fact that calls to mobiles from
land lines are charged at extremely high rates, some being as high
as 16p per minute. The reasons for these high costs are described
as an 'ingress charge' – it is made by the mobile operators
to carry the termination leg of the call made. Following these findings
Qualitel have installed cost saving solutions for various motor dealers
including some prestigious BMW dealerships in the region.
The gateway technology is, in essence, quite simple. The gateway sits
alongside the clients PBX switch and any calls made to mobile phones
are re-directed from the switch through to the on-site gateway. The
gateway is loaded with a number of cross network sim cards and it is
these sim cards that carry the call to the recipient. As this call
becomes a mobile-to-mobile call and the sim cards contain cross network
call rates, the costs of these calls can be as little as 6p per minute
and will lead proportionately to huge cost savings.
Our local BMW dealership has seen its call rate drop by approximately
8p per minute, which in turn has lead to cost savings of over £7,000
per annum on its landline to mobile calls. Mr David Vickers, Operations
Director of Knights BMW, acknowledges that the billing analysis carried
out by Qualitel identified this high spend call area and the subsequent
cost effective solution provided, has lead to a significant reduction
in their telephone costs.
Following the success at the local dealership, Qualitel now has further
on-site gateway installations running at other BMW dealerships within
the region, who are now also reaping the cost saving benefit of this
cutting edge technology.
This case study represents an example of how a job well done can lead
to additional business being won by way of referral. Business referrals
are considered to be very important to Qualitel and are a significant
route to market as they continue to grow within the business-to-business
sector.
