Blackberry Playbook to launch in June – learn about it at MobiteQ

The Playbook is designed specifically for the business market, and while the specifications are fairly typical-the PlayBook has a dual core processor, twin cameras, WiFi and so on – manufacturer RIM has some interesting ideas. It developed its own tablet operating system, and the display is innovative: the bezel around the screen is touch-sensitive, enabling otherwise wasted space to be used for navigation and selection.

The 7in screen makes the PlayBook more portable than rivals, but to get the most from the device you’ll need one of RIM’s phones too; the initial WiFi-only model needs to be paired with a Blackberry Enterprise Server-linked phone for secure access to email, calendar and intranet data.
Blackberry Balance, which keeps work and personal data seperate, will be supported later this year, and RIM promises a “rich application ecosystem” for apps. Future updates will deliver familiar features including configurations, settings, application management and auditing. The PlayBook will also support the version of Exchange Server in Microsoft’s forthcoming Office 365.
